Is the Machu Picchu Entrance Ticket Included in the Inca Trail Treks for 2025?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions by travelers booking the Classic Inca Trail (4 days) or the Short Inca Trail (2 days) regarding what is included in their trekking packages.

For many years, the Ministry of Culture of Peru included Machu Picchu entrance tickets—covering both Circuit 1 (Panoramic Route) and Circuit 3 (Lower and Middle Sections)—as part of all Inca Trail tour packages. This policy remained in place until May 27, 2025.

However, as of May 28, 2025, the Peruvian government has introduced new regulations that limit access to only Circuit 1 for hikers entering Machu Picchu via the Inca Trail. This means that from this date forward, Circuit 3 is no longer included in Inca Trail trekking packages.

If you still wish to explore Circuit 3 (which includes some of the lower and more detailed sections of the site), you will need to purchase an additional entrance ticket, and tour prices may vary accordingly.

We would also like to inform you that if you made your reservation for the 4-day or 2-day Inca Trail before May 28, 2

025, then entry to both Circuit 1 and Circuit 3 will be included.

For example, if you booked your Inca Trail on April 27, 2025, for a t

our in June 2025, access to Circuit 3 and Circuit 1 will be included in your p

ackage.

We advise all

future trekkers to take note of this important update when planning their visit to Machu Picchu.
