To begin your journey, your professional local guide will meet you at your hotel in central Cusco. From there, you’ll walk to the vibrant Plaza de Armas, the main square of the city.
Main Attractions Covered in the Tour:
First, visit the impressive Cusco Cathedral, a colonial-era church built atop an ancient Inca palace.
Next, continue along a historic Inca-built street to reach Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), once the most important religious site for the Incas and later transformed by the Spanish. After that, take a short drive to the outskirts of the city to explore the massive stone ruins of Sacsayhuamán, known for its masterful Inca architecture and panoramic views.Then, move on to Q’enqo, a spiritual site featuring stone altars and underground ceremonial passages.
Following this, you’ll visit Puka Pukara, also known as the “Red Fortress,” an ancient military outpost or rest stop. Finally, head to Tambomachay, the sacred Temple of Water, famous for its ingenious aqueducts and fountains still flowing today.
