Itinerary Cusco & Classic Machu Picchu 6 Days

Day 1: Transfer from Cusco Airport and City Tour of Cusco

Upon arrival at the Cusco airport, meet our Inca Vision Tours representative for a transfer to your hotel in Cusco. Today is an exciting day to explore the heart of Cusco city!. Around 1 pm you will be picked up from your hotel, then You will begin your day with a private guided tour of Cusco’s most important sites. You will start with a visit to the Cusco Cathedral and Qoricancha. Later, you will see the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Tambomachay (temple of water), and the statue of christ ( Cristo Blanco) to enjoy the best view in Cusco. 

Included: Pick-up from Cusco Airport, Professional tour guide, private transportation, and entrance tickets to all attractions.

By the morning, after your big breakfast by 8 A.M, you will meet your guide for a trip to the Sacred Valley. Along the Valley, you will see stunning farmland of cornfield and the Urubamba River. Your private tour continue  with the short  visit to an Alpaca and Llama zoo, then head to an Inca cemetery at the ruins of Pisac, followed by  the monolithic fortress ruins and village of Ollantaytambo. When you finish your tour, around 7 P.M, catch the train to Aguas Calientes, base town for Machu Picchu where you will stay in a comfortable stated hotel.

Early wake-up call! We’ll take the first bus (30 minutes) up to Machu Picchu to witness sunrise from the famous upper platform viewpoint—an unforgettable postcard-perfect moment.

Your professional English-speaking guide will lead a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, covering all its major highlights:

  • View of the Sun Temple
  • Temple of the Three Windows
  • The Main Plaza
  • The Sacred Rock
  • The Royal Inca house & farming terraces

After your Machu Picchu tour, return by bus to Aguas Calientes, enjoy lunch, and board the 2:55 PM or 3:20 PM train to Ollantaytambo. From there, our private van will take you back to Cusco, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel by 7:00 PM.

Your adventure begins with a 4:30 A.M-5:00 A.M hotel pickup in Cusco, followed by a 2.5-hour drive to Cusipata for breakfast. After breakfast, we continue on a scenic unpaved road for about 1 hour drive to the trailhead, enjoying views of stunning landscapes, deep canyons, and snow-capped peaks from the Ausangate Mountain range, herd of llamas and alpacas as well as glimpses of the Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain.

Upon arrival at the trailhead, we begin our hike. After approximately 1.5 hours of trekking, we reach the spectacular Vinicunca Mountain (Rainbow Mountain) at an altitude of 5,036 meters (16,522 feet). Here, you’ll have time to rest, take pictures, enjoy a light snack, and marvel at the vibrant colors of this natural wonder.

After taking in the incredible views, we begin our descent back to the parking area, and then drive via the same road to Cusipata for a well-earned lunch. Finally, we return to Cusco, arriving at your hotel between 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM.

Start Your Day Early
We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco around 4:00 A.M-430 A.M to begin an unforgettable journey to the majestic Andes. Although it may change the Pick-up time depending on type of tour. Settle in for a scenic 3.5-hour drive to the trailhead at Soraypampa, passing through the charming town of Mollepata, where you’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast (or a nutritious box breakfast upon request).

The Hike Begins
After fueling up, your 1.5-hour hike begins. Follow a steadily ascending trail surrounded by breathtaking Andean landscapes until you reach the highlight of the day — the stunning Humantay Lake. With its shimmering turquoise waters backed by glacial peaks, this is one of Peru’s true hidden gems. Also, mind-blowing mountain ranges on the way to Humantay Lake.

Relax & Recharge
Take your time to soak in the views, snap incredible photos, or simply enjoy the tranquility of this magical place. Then, retrace your steps down the same trail and return to Soraypampa.

Lunch & Return
Enjoy a delicious lunch in Soraypampa or Mollepata, with your final glimpse of the towering Salkantay Peak. After lunch, relax in our private Inca Vision van as we return you to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 5:30 PM.

After that, you can pay the remaining balance either online or in person at our office in Cusco. Moreover, you can make the deposit via We TravelWestern Union, or MoneyGram. In addition, if you rent camping and hiking gear, upgrade tours, or receive a discount on the total price, our sales team will email you the updated remaining balance, which, in turn, you will pay at our Cusco office.

To qualify for the student discount, one must be 25 years old or less at the time of entering Machu Picchu and you must submit a valid university ID with your booking. The ID must include your name, photo, and expiration date. Cards without an expiration date will not be accepted. Please bring the original student ID with you on the tour to pass the checkpoint.

There are several optional upgrades you can include in this trip. Below is a quick list of prices.

Huayna Picchu Mountain: $65 USD per person (2-hour round-trip climb).
Machu Picchu Mountain: $65 USD per person (3-hour round-trip climb).

Note: You can only hike one of these mountains, and it must be done after the guided tour of Machu Picchu due to time limitations.

Vistadome Train (one way): $40 USD per person.

Huayna Picchu | Machu Picchu Mountain
Huayna Picchu, the mountain overlooking Machu Picchu, is a 45-minute hike to the top, located next to the Machu Picchu Inca city. The descent can be steep, so it may not be suitable for those afraid of heights. This hike can be done after your Machu Picchu tour.

Machu Picchu Mountain requires a 3-hour round-trip hike. Due to its popularity, reservations should be made at least one month in advance. Please note that weather conditions are beyond our control.

Hotel: If you are doing overnight tours or treks that lead to Machu Picchu, you will be provided accommodation in a 3 star ★★★ hotel (Intipunku hotel or similar) in Aguas Calientes. For upgrades or cancellation, please enter your request in the special request box above. If you are booking a Peru Package Tour for 5 or more days, please contact our sales team.
Room Types: Matrimonial (1 bed for 2 people); Double (2 single beds), Single (1 bed for 1 person).  If you wish to add extra beds, please specify in the special request box above.

Train: On our 6-day Cusco & Machu Picchu Tour, a round-trip ticket on the Expeditions Train is included, offering comfort and scenic views. For an enhanced experience, you can upgrade to the Vistadome Train for the return trip, which features larger windows, comfortable seating, a glass roof, and onboard entertainment, including shows and a complimentary snack.
