Your adventure begins with an early hotel pick-up in Cusco between 3:00 AM and 3:30 AM. We will embark on a scenic 3.5-hour drive to Pacchanta, a charming Andean village located at 4,200 meters (13,780 feet) near the stunning Ausangate Mountain.
Upon arrival in Pacchanta at 7:30 AM, we will enjoy a nutritious breakfast to fuel up for the day. After a short briefing, we’ll begin our journey toward the 7 breathtaking glacial lakes of Ausangate: Blue Lake (Azul Cocha), Otorongo (Male & Female), Alqa Cocha, Qomer Cocha, Orqo Otorongo, China Otorongo and Puca Cocha.
The trail starts with a gentle uphill climb, followed by a flat section, before becoming steeper as we ascend. Along the way, you’ll encounter local Andean communities in traditional clothing, as well as llamas and alpacas grazing in the vast landscapes. After 1.5 hours of hiking, we will reach Azul Cocha, the first of the 7 lakes. From here, we’ll head to a panoramic viewpoint to capture stunning photos of the massive Ausangate Glacier (6,384 m) and the surrounding snow-capped peaks.
After completing the hike, we will return to Pacchanta, where you’ll have the option to relax in the natural hot springs (optional). We will then enjoy a hearty local lunch, savoring traditional Andean flavors. Following lunch, we’ll begin our drive back to Cusco, arriving around 6:00 PM, ending a day filled with adventure, breathtaking landscapes, and cultural experiences.
